In the soul of the protagonist of the story -I am (romance)- is a struggle between good and evil, humanism and bigotry. He is a -Chekist, but also a man-, a -rebellious son- who, after the most shameful crime against the dearest human - the mother, destroys the remnants of humanity in himself and dies morally.
